The Malaysian Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, led by Minister
Chang Lih Kang, is working on guidelines for a satellite launch center. This
project, driven by Malaysia's advantageous equatorial
location, could make Malaysia the ninth country globally with launch
facility capabilities, attracting 500 tech startups and creating 5,000 jobs by
2030.
The aerospace sector is expected to contribute RM 10 billion to the economy.
Additionally, a national remote sensing satellite program is planned to begin in
2026, ensuring strategic data ownership and continuing Malaysia's space
exploration legacy initiated in 2007 with the first Malaysian astronaut. |
