Fighting continues in Khartoum between Sudan's army and the Rapid Support
Forces, despite a ceasefire. The situation is worsening and the sound of heavy
clashes could be heard close to the army headquarters and presidential palace.
The UN envoy's latest statement offers hope for the situation, suggesting the
sides are more open to negotiating than before, but there is still a long way to
go before an end to the fighting. A US-government organised convoy helped
evacuate US citizens and locals, and the US Government said it would help
evacuees travel to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, the fighting continues to escalate,
derailing the democratic transition that had been gaining traction in
the country. |
