In a momentous achievement for India's space program, the country launched the
Chandrayaan-3 mission with the goal of executing a controlled landing on the
moon, aiming to become the fourth nation to do so. The launch took place at the
Satish Dhawan Space Center in southern Andhra Pradesh, witnessed by crowds and
millions of viewers on YouTube.
The Indian Space Research Organization confirmed the spacecraft's successful
launch, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the scientists' dedication.
Chandrayaan-3, consisting of a lander, propulsion module, and rover, is set to
land on the moon's surface on August 23, following India's previous lunar
missions that discovered water molecules and entered lunar orbit but encountered
landing challenges.
India's space program, which reflects its rising global
prominence, has been attracting investment
and fostering international collaborations, with plans to explore Venus and
establish its own space station by 2030. |
