The Importance of Caring for Family |
|
Once upon a time, there was a selfish and greedy merchant who lived in an old
town near the sea. He earned a lot of money through dishonest means, cheating
innocent people out of their property and charging high interest rates. Despite
his wealth, he refused to spend money on his family, scolding them for buying
anything they needed or wanted. His children had to make do with old clothes and
torn books, and his wife struggled to make ends meet.
As the merchant grew richer, he became more miserly, firing his cook, maid, and
gardener and insisting that his family do all the work themselves. His relatives
avoided him because of his cruel treatment, and the townspeople despised him,
calling him names like "Money Bags" and "King Miser."
Realizing that he had become the most hated person in town, the merchant sought
advice from an elder in his family on how to regain his lost respect and
popularity. The elder advised him to focus on helping his family first before
helping strangers. The merchant finally saw the neglect and suffering of his own
family and vowed to take better care of them, as well as all his poor relatives
who came to him for help.
This story teaches us the importance of caring for our own family and loved
ones. We should not neglect or mistreat them while chasing wealth or fame.
Charity begins at home, and we should always prioritize the needs and well-being
of our family above anything else. |
