Education for Success: A Well-Rounded Approach |
|
As a lower secondary school student, I believe that education is more than just
learning knowledge and skills for future employment. Some people think that
education should only focus on producing individuals with desirable character
traits, while others say that it's about learning to be self-sufficient.
However, I believe that education should incorporate all of these objectives.
In school, we learn subjects like English and Chinese Language to improve our
communication skills. Technical subjects like Engineering Drawing and science
subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are also important for our future
in a world shaped by technology. Living Skills, like cooking and housekeeping,
are useful for when we become adults and establish our own homes. And studying
subjects like History and Geography not only provides us with general knowledge,
but also helps us understand different cultures and countries.
Although school can be stressful with exams, tests, projects, and co-curricular
activities, teachers have taught us the value of discipline and focusing on our
goals. We're not just memorizing information for tests, but instead learning
critical thinking, communication skills, and teamwork, which will prepare us for
the future workforce.
Co-curricular activities are also an essential part of education. As a member of
the Computer Club and the athletic team, I've learned skills like project
presentations and teamwork that will be valuable for my future career. Sports
have also helped me become a more well-rounded individual, with qualities that
employers desire in their workers.
But most importantly, education is about the love and concern of our teachers.
They inspire and motivate us to become better individuals and serve as our role
models as we step into the adult world.
In conclusion, education is more than just learning knowledge and skills for
employment. It's about becoming a well-rounded individual with desirable
character traits, self-sufficiency, and critical thinking skills. It's about
learning to work in teams, developing communication skills, and engaging in
co-curricular activities. And it's about the guidance and inspiration of our
teachers, who help us become the best version of ourselves. |
