A Reflection on the Essence of Civilization

Civilization is like a gentle breeze in February, thawing the icy barriers of the soul; it's a cup of clear tea, diluting pain and memories; it's a healing medicine, treating the bruises within; civilization is the first ray of sunlight shattering the darkness, the long-awaited sweet rain on vast lands, and the gurgling stream flowing through the heart.

An inspiring story once shook me to the core, leaving a profound impact. It was about a blind man who did something seemingly foolish in the pitch-black night. Balancing on a crutch with one hand and holding a lamp with the other, people couldn't understand his actions. When someone asked, "Are you crazy? Why would you do this?" He responded, "In the pitch-black darkness, where one can't see a hand in front of them, who wouldn't get knocked down? But I have never been bumped by anyone." Pausing for a moment, he continued, "I carry this lamp not only to illuminate the path for others but also to make them see themselves clearly and prevent them from bumping into me."

I recall an incident where I saw a young man spitting indiscriminately in a public place. I couldn't help but approach him and say, "Please don't spit in public. Do you know that a tiny bit of spit can bring many dangers? It contains thousands of bacteria that can spread diseases through the air, affecting everyone around you. It's not a good practice!"

In a city known as the "Garden City" with English being widely used, surprisingly, many environmental slogans are written in Chinese. The reason behind this is that a significant number of litterbugs happen to be Chinese.

Let me remind everyone that we should be courteous and well-mannered residents of Weihai, and not let others look down upon us.

In conclusion, I sincerely hope that the people of Weihai will embrace civilized speech and conduct, becoming exemplary coastal citizens.
