Unleashing the Power Within |
|

Confidence is the belief in oneself, a catalyst that stirs and brings forth
hidden potentials. It acts as an encouragement, a driving force, transforming
the timid and shy into brave and resilient individuals.
In my favorite Chinese class, when the teacher announced that I had received top
marks for my essay, I couldn't contain the joy and excitement in my heart.
However, my elation turned to nervousness when the teacher asked the top-scoring
students to read their compositions aloud on the podium. I tightly clutched my
essay, my heart pounding, and palms sweating. As my classmates went up one by
one, I remained indecisive about whether I should take the stage. Only one
student, Xiao Wang, was left. Suddenly, the teacher loudly called out, "Xiao
Chen, you're next!" In that moment, my heart seemed to stop beating. As I walked
to the front, I mustered courage in my mind, chanting, "Believe in yourself; you
can do it!"
With trembling hands, I started to read, my face hidden behind the notebook I
used as a shield. My voice, barely audible, resonated through the classroom. The
teacher turned, eyes full of expectation, silently urging me on, as if saying,
"You can do it!" Strengthened by this look, I straightened my back and read once
more, this time with my own voice. I almost scared myself with the sound of it.
During the recital, I stumbled several times, each mistake fueling a bit of fear
within me. But with the encouragement of "I can do it!" repeated to myself, I
overcame each hurdle. As I finished, a thunderous applause erupted from the
entire class, and tears welled up in my eyes. Filled with confidence, I returned
to my seat.
From that moment on, I continuously encouraged myself, saying, "I will surpass
myself; I can do it!" Now, I no longer fear standing at the podium facing my
classmates. So, the words "I can do it" have become an infinite power that
motivates me to face myself bravely, conquer all obstacles, and strive for
success, because as long as I make an effort, I can do it! |
